
Momentum is building for the return of Uganda International Fashion Week (UIFW) this June. Organisers have officially launched a nationwide search for the next generation of runway stars through the #ModelsForImpact casting initiative.
The casting call invites aspiring and professional models from across Uganda and the region. Organisers describe this as more than just a runway opportunity. It is a platform for transformation within Africa’s growing creative economy.

Additionally The call is open to young people, mainly women and girls aged 15–35. Infact It welcomes both fresh faces and experienced talent. This aligns with UIFW’s vision of inclusivity. The casting also encourages participation from diverse backgrounds, including refugees and persons with disabilities.

Organisers say the initiative supports the Uganda International Fashion Week 2026 vision. Indeed, returning after six years, the event aims to strengthen Africa’s fashion ecosystem and empower young creatives.
Regarding the mission, Santa Anzo, founder of Uganda International Fashion Week (UIFW), stated: “Through Models for Impact, we are redefining the role of models. Specifically, we are building a movement that nurtures individuals who create change and stand for something bigger than fashion.”
Historically, renowned entrepreneur Santa Anzo founded Uganda International Fashion Week in 2003. Since then, it has become one of the continent’s most influential platforms, connecting African designers to global opportunities.
Event Schedule and Impact
This year’s edition runs from June 22–27, 2026, at the Kampala Serena Hotel. Furthermore, it supports a broader Creative Economy Program (2026–2028) to equip thousands of youth with skills, mentorship, and market access.
In addition, the Mastercard Foundation supports this program, which is implemented with the International Trade Centre and Bayimba Foundation. Moreover, it aims to empower over 9,800 youths, primarily women and girls. Consequently, the initiative creates pathways for employment and entrepreneurship within the fashion value chain.
Finally, organisers call the runway casting an important gateway. Therefore, it helps young people build careers in modelling and the broader fashion industry.

“This is more than a casting,” Santa Anzo noted. This is an opportunity for young people to join a new movement. It positions fashion as both a powerful economic driver and a form of cultural expression.
Selected models will walk alongside leading African designers during Uganda International Fashion Week. This provides them with valuable exposure, mentorship, and industry connections
