Uganda International Fashion Week Returns, Hosted by ARAPAPA by Santa Anzo in Collaboration with South Africa’s Department of Arts and Culture. At a press briefing held on July 22 at the Serena Hotel, Santa Anzo, the visionary behind ARAPAPA, emphasized that fashion is a multi-billion-dollar industry, comparable to sectors like agriculture, oil, and gas.
Anzo highlighted the transformative potential of the Uganda International Fashion Week (UIFW), stating, “UIFW is leading the charge in driving socio-economic change in Uganda by fostering partnerships and activations that elevate the fashion and textile industry.”

This year’s event promises to be more than just runway showcases. It will feature interactive seminars, networking opportunities, mentorship programs, and masterclass sessions, creating a platform for growth and collaboration. The event will spotlight some of Africa’s most talented designers, including four renowned South African creators, alongside Uganda’s own stars such as Fatumah Asha, Stella Atal, Abbas Kai, Paula Butagira, and ARAPAPA by Santa Anzo.
Claire Mugabi, Marketing Manager at the Uganda Tourism Board, also shared her enthusiasm, noting, “Tourism has evolved beyond wildlife experiences. Visitors now seek to immerse themselves in culture, cuisine, and fashion. We are thrilled that UIFW is pioneering fashion tourism and showcasing Uganda’s creative potential to the world.”
The return of UIFW marks a significant moment for Uganda’s fashion industry, positioning it as a key player in Africa’s creative and economic landscape.
